Captive Breeding at The Creature Conservancy

A few of the species residing at The Creature Conservancy actively breed. The following animals participate in regional breeding programs with other institutions.

Two-Toed SLoth

Two-toed sloths born at The Creature Conservancy can be viewed at the Binder Park Zoo, the Columbus Zoo, & several other local conservation organizations.

Palawan binturong

Binturong numbers in the wild are declining. This is primarily due to conversion of their forest homes for agricultural purposes as well as them being taken from the wild for meat and traditional medicine.

Southern Three-banded armadillo

Three-banded armadillos are excellent education animals for classroom presentations. Active and gregarious, they demonstrate many adaptations such as hard protective armor and claws to aid in foraging for insects.
